Let's Talk Courtesy!

Let’s talk common courtesy for just a minute. Have you ever been in the middle of a work related conversation that is interrupted by a fellow associate who believes their issue or agenda is more important than yours meriting the right to cut you off mid sentence? It’s a busy world out there and everybody is in a hurry to get issues resolved and complete to-do lists so they can move on to the next big project. Many people walk around as if in a tunnel and forget to stop and make room for common courtesy. The things we learned in kindergarten, share, play fair, put things back where you found them, don’t interrupt, and if you do have to interrupt, say excuse me, tie your shoes… okay, that one really isn’t relevant here! Think before you speak, you are not the only person with a problem that needs fixin’. Wait your turn… it’s the courteous thing to do. If you are looking for a happier work environment, start with you and be courteous!

What Motivates You?

I don’t know about you but I need motivation and inspiration in my life. This can come in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes you have to be still long enough to recognize motivation. Sometimes it comes in the form of a “thank you” for a job well done; when my boss says “good job” I am motivated to keep working hard. Sometimes it comes in the form of help just when you need it most; a friend offers to take your child for ice cream so you can have a moment of peace and quiet, I am motivated to relax. But many times what motivates and encourages us the most is what we do for others.

My personal gift is encouragement. When I am given the opportunity to counsel, inspire or teach, my “happy bucket” overflows. I don’t always recognize the opportunity to encourage and by the time I realize I “shoulda” “woulda” “coulda” it’s too late. However, in those moments that I do show up and make a difference in someone’s life I am once again inspired and motivated.

Life has a way of becoming mundane; we follow daily routines, morning rituals, and drive home as if we are on auto pilot. After a while we look up from the bottom of a rut and ask ourselves “how did I get here?” Take a moment to look up and be still… did you miss an opportunity to motivate or inspire someone today? Make it a point to fill your happy bucket by making a difference in somebody’s life. Who knows, you may just be inspired and motivated enough to change the world!

Talk to you soon!

Showing the Love To Our Conference Sponsors

After a 2-year break, Milestone Management just completed the 2011 Management Conference held February 8th through 11th at the Westin Galleria Dallas. This year marked the highest participation level, for all sponsorship levels including Executive Platinum ($10,000 and above). Everyone at Milestone appreciates the contributions of our sponsors and we are continually looking for ways to increase the value of our conferences. This year we put the spotlight on our sponsors to truly communicate our appreciation for them!

To kick off our week, we treated our Sponsors to an “Appreciation Party” with "Sponsor Only" raffles that ranged from cash to e-readers. I must say it seemed almost unnatural for some suppliers to participate, as they kept trying to slip their tickets to Milestone associates! Throughout the evening, everyone had the option to accumulated “winnings” from the casino tables at the party. However, only the sponsors with the most money at the end of the night won the cash prizes. Janet Settle with Executive Platinum Sponsor Capture the Market said, "The supplier party was a wonderful surprise and the chance to win prizes made our night. It shows you guys care about who you do business with."

Milestone Management Awards 2011

Milestone Management held their 2011 Awards Ceremony at the Westin Galleria Dallas on February 10, 2011. The evening was beautifully appointed with flowers, gold and bronze lighting, and coordinating table linens. Attendees only added to the elegance in their evening cocktail attire. Guest warmed up for the evening at the Presidents Reception, where they enjoyed passed hors d’oeurves and cocktails, while listening to a hand selected playlist of seductive tunes. Ok, contemporary music may be a better way of saying it. Either way, every detail was tended to in order to create an evening to remember.

The venue and people looked great, but the M.A.S.T.E.R. awards presentation was why we were all there. This year Milestone added several awards to the presentation to highlight not only new comers to the organization, but also reward creative and consistent performers. All awards were presented by past Milestone winners in similar categories and each presenter was flawless!
